Meet Torbay's Tom Gordon: One Of the World's Leading Entertainment Art Directors
We do love a bit of branded music, film and tv merch. If you do too, there's a big possibility that you’ve encountered the work of Torbay’s Tom Gordon - aka Fuggart Designs - one of the world’s leading Art Directors in the entertainment industry.
Based in Paignton, Tom works from his stunning home studio creating designs for all your favourite artists, bands, film and TV shows. To give you a glimpse into his world, in 2018 alone Tom created designs for icons including Eminem, Disney, Elvis, Queen, Metallica, Muse and Peaky Blinders.

With only a couple of projects left to finish before the year is out I thought this would be an appropriate time to share my client list for 2018. Another great year. Highlights include working for @fleetwoodmacc @disney @peakyblindersofficial and @michaeljackson #clientlist #design #art #artwork #designer #2018 #band #rock #music #rap #hiphop #countrymusic #teal #mustard #yearinreview
Tom never expected to be an Art Director. He started with a passion for playing music and his main focus was on his own band. However, after designing his band's posters, flyers, and merch, Tom caught the eye of other bands and promotors which slowly saw commissions coming his way.
As he moved onto being a local promoter himself, Tom saw the value in his inhernent skills and went on to harness them, by bagging a First Class BA Hons degree from Plymouth College of Art. Soon after this achievement, Tom went onto work with bands like Blink 182 and Pearl Jam. This saw his foot get firmly in the door and he began building relationships across the entertainment industry.
Having worked with nearly ever iconic name in the music industry, we asked if he's ticked off everyone on his bucket list?
"Fortunately doing my job I've managed to work with some of my favourite artists. Last year, I got to tick off one of my last ones on my list which was Fleetwood Mac, which was a huge moment for me. So now I just have one band that I've not worked with, which is Sigur Rós, so I'm hoping that actually happens at one point, if that happens I will be done with my bucket list"

Being such a kingpin in his craft, Tom has fought off the temptation of living in a big city because of his love for his hometown in South Devon.
"Obviously working in the music industry there's a lot of allure to go towards the bigger cities like London New York and stuff, but the reason I wanted to say in Torbay, having grown up here, it's a different pace of life, and I think the relaxed way I can switch between working and then going out to the beach or driving up to the moors, for me that was definitely the appeal and grounded me in the area."
