Arts Council Collection: The Printed Line
Date: 6 April - 2 June 2019
Location: Torre Abbey, The King's Drive, Torquay TQ2 5JE

On now at Torre Abbey and drawing from the nationally acclaimed Arts Council Collection, The Printed Line showcases 60 artists and explores a variety of printmaking techniques that exploit the potential of the printed line, from the thick and velvety line of drypoint and the heavy cross-hatching of etching to delicate wood engraving and boldly coloured screen prints. Featuring Bridget Riley, Kenneth Martin and Simon Patterson.

Tickets: £8. Pay on arrival, includes access to the incredible house, museum displays and beautiful garden too. Great value!


Mock The Week’s Stewart Francis Farewell Tour
Date: Thursday 18 April 2019

Known for his jokes on Mock The Week, Canadian one-line merchant Stewart Francis has announced his farewell comedy tour. The comic, who won Dave’s Funniest Joke Of The Fringe in 2012 will go on the road with Into The Punset. Catch Stewart’s last tour as he sets to leave stand up and focus on becoming a cartoonist.

Wait Until Dark

If you’re a theatre lover that enjoys tense thrillers, then the Sinters production of Wait Until Dark at the Palace Theatre will leave you on the edge of your seats. A drug filled doll has disappeared from a London flat and three petty crooks try to find it. They plot to compel the owners to give away its whereabouts. The owner’s wife is blind; the crooks try to get at her by spreading lies about her husband but she simply won’t fall for it. A rollercoaster thriller with a terrifying climax – can she defeat the thieves despite her blindness?

Tourists Return to Torquay

Torquay’s very own - Tourists - are returning back to their hometown for a special night at Offshore, after not performing in the Bay for nearly two years. This free event is a great opportunity to see the band live following their recent success at multiple festivals with the stand out being Glastonbury. The band is using the gig to also showcase their new album in full.

Shy FX is Coming to Torquay

Shy FX is one of the biggest names in DnB and Jungle music at the moment and he’s heading down to Torquay with Stamina MC to perform a headline slot at The Foundry. Following his hugely successful Cult.ure events, the producer from London is now spreading his wings bringing people in Torbay tracks like Roll The Dice, Rudeboy Lovesong, and obviously his anthem remix of Protoje and Chronixx’s Who Knows.

BMAD Bike, Beer & Music Festival 2019
Date: 3 - 5 May 2019
Location: Paignton Green, Eastern Esplanade, TQ4 6 Paignton

This isn't just a great day out, these are rebels with a cause. BMAD actually stands for Bikers Make A Difference. Every pound raised goes to support sick, disabled and disadvantaged young people in the local Torbay area and so far BMAD has raised an applaud worthy £450,000. Join the party on Paignton Green over the weekend this year.

Storm in a Teacup with Shelley Castle

As part of the Eyeview Conversations programme, local artist Shelley Castle welcomes organisations and businesses, wild swimmers, sea kayakers, conversationists and conservationists, The Fisherman’s Mission, Torbay Coast & Countryside Trust, fishermen and historians to share their passions and experiences and discuss what the future holds for the marine ecology in Torbay and how to help support it now and in the future. Everyone who has the slightest interest in the sea here in Torbay - or who is drawn to finding out more - is welcome indeed! A hearty high tea included.

The Moody Welshman - Rhod Gilbert take the stage

In his break from Comedy Rhod thought he’d hit rock bottom, but then he met a bloke called John. Rhod’s return is raw, personal, and brutally honest; it’s safe to say he’s back to his best!

The Two Robbies

A favourite of The Shorely, Robert Garnham has teamed up with another spoken word artist who goes by the name of Rob Barratt, to give Brixham a night with The Two Robbies. This will be a fantastically funny evening. Both of the Robbies perform all around the UK and internationally too. After several years of enjoying each other’s work, they’ve come together to present an evening of thought-provoking poetry, whimsy, song and daftness.

Cockington Court’s Sculpture Trail 2019
Date: 27 May - 8 September 2019

There are 19 artists who’ve been selected and each has been offered the opportunity to present 6 outdoor sculptures at Cockington Court. Come the end of the exhibition, there will be a 2019 Sculpture Award for the publics favourite piece - get voting!
