As 2018 draws to an end, two of The Shorely crew - Lisa Gardiner and Josh Pratt - reflect on the last year in Torbay and share some of their most favourite people, places and events. Sit back in wonder as we present The Shorely’s Year in Review with our top 25 features.

As avid readers will know, The Shorely is built on a social and creative mission: to share the insider’s guide on what to go see, do and experience in Brixham, Paignton, Torquay and to profile the creative folk, artists and makers that make it all happen.

In 2018 we’ve been invited through the doors of venues large and small, tagged along to many an event, peeked inside working studios and visited the homes of some of the Bay’s most creative people. Three things have struck us most:

1… the sheer diversity of what’s on offer, 2… the secret entrepreneurial and creative spirit that’s thriving here and now, and 3… that everyone featured is naturally inspired by the wonders of the UNESCO Global Geopark in which we live, work and play.

In the past year we’ve brought you over 70 features, interviewed over 30 creatives, created insider’s guides that have included over 140 events and activities in Torbay and reached out to around 1 million people across our website and social media channels with over 200,000 of you viewing our videos.

We’d like to raise a glass and thank everyone we’ve met, collaborated with and featured throughout 2018 and to our readers, who have supported and shared The Shorely far and wide. Before we leave you to discover our top 25 favourite moments of 2018, we give you this quote from the internationally best-selling author and current Torquay resident, Lesley Pearse. A little inspiration to get you thinking about the possibilities of 2019.

I am one of those people that always finishes things I start… I might finish them badly, but I finish them. I think that’s the secret of getting where you want to - just do it!
