Meet Torquay's visionary Artistic Director

Torquay born, Chris Macmeikan (aka DJ Tofu), is a pioneer of Vintage Remix and the UK Festival scene, sharing his obsession with all things remixed and raucous with jumping crowds across the globe! The Shorely spoke to Chris about his new adventures back in his home town of Torquay, creating Grinagog Festival.

From Glastonbury to Bestival and BoomTown, Chris Macmeikan is a DJ-ing legend, Director of Continental Drifts and a musical maverick. He constantly explores, discovers and creates new sounds and experiences.

2017 saw the creation of a new music and arts festival - Grinagog - right here in Torbay.  As one of the founding partners and Artistic Director of Grinagog Festival, Chris brings his internationally renowned creative vision to the Bay's first major creative festival.

His endless vision and commitment to what he does has been recognised by none other than our fair Queen - Chris bagged himself an MBE for services to the music festival and live events industry in the summer of 2017. Wit woo!

Torquay has has a massive influence on my life... the things that I’ve picked up here have led me to have a very interesting cultural life... The work that we’re doing in Torquay with Grinagog, is like one of the most important things for me that exist.
